Angel Island / Ayala Cove
• June 22 Angel Island Picnic – This annual event is planned by member Zara Haimo and her excellent crew. Many of the dock slips are still closed for repair but 16 are restored! SSA and friends usually number 5 or so boats. First come, first serve. If you miss getting a dock there are mooring balls (take 2 says Michael) and a dingy dock. And a guest dock where you get 15” to unload your boat. The ferry service is still running and 10am is the first ferry from Tiburon. You can also take the ferry from the East Bay to SF and then another ferry to Angel Island. Yes we can fill our wagons with supplies and take them aboard the ferry. You make and pay for your individual reservation online, especially in the summer, www.angelislandferry.com Zara and her crew usually arrive around 9am via boat to claim the bbq picnic space and get set up. I assume she will boat in this year too. This is a potluck with grills, sides to share, BYOB, ice, coolers, picnic supplies and chairs. We are hoping SSA Skippers are interested in seeing in person the restored dock slips with enthusiastic SSA Sailors aboard! SSA will send out an RSVP link to the calendar listing so we can have a headcount. No fee for the picnic but please let us know to expect you. Breeze has a ticket on the 10am ferry from Tiburon.
